“Beyond tough times: A growth agenda for Wisconsin” is topic for Nov. 25 WIN-Madison

Learn how the economic development agendas of major statewide business organizations compare and contrast at the Tuesday, Nov. 25 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in Madison.

The luncheon will be held at the Sheraton Hotel on Madison's John Nolen Drive. Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for WIN members, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships. With the national economy in recession and state government leaders predicting a $5 billion budget deficit for the next cycle, business leaders and policymakers are proposing ideas to bolster the Wisconsin economy. Hear from the following business leaders:

• James Buchen, vice president of government relations, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce.
• Bill McCoshen, executive director, Competitive Wisconsin Inc.
• Craig Thompson, executive director, Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin.
• Scott T. VanderSanden, president, AT&T Wisconsin.

Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council and WIN, will moderate the discussion. It will examine common themes in current reports or policy papers - the Tech Council's biennial white papers, the “Competitive Mandate” by Competitive Wisconsin Inc., the “Moving Wisconsin Forward” effort by WMC and TDA's “State of Transportation” recommendations, as well as views on the state's communications infrastructure.
